Update on Legal fight for NHS Personal Protective Equipment

“Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are.” - Benjamin Franklin

Firstly, a massive and heartfelt thank you for donating to our cause.

We have now glided over the £30,000 mark - it has blown us away, and it means the world to us that we have over 1,000 of your believe in our cause.

A few days ago, we attended the burial of Mary Agyeiwaa Agyapong and her father Steven. Mary was a pregnant nurse who died after having contracted COVID-19. She leaves behind a husband, a newborn daughter and a two-year old son.

Suffice to say, funerals in the time of coronavirus are unlike any other. It is important for politicians and public alike to know that the current grief felt by families is unique in its unpleasantness.

Patients are dying alone.

Their families mourn with many questions unanswered. Worse still, a silent killer stalks them on every front page, every rolling news channel.

It was an important moment for us. To witness the grief of mourners, all wearing surgical masks and gloves, was both surreal and powerful.

The dignity shown by Ernest, Mary's husband, has been emboldening and inspiring over the last few weeks. Ernest is a fundamentally decent man whose life has been turned on its head, and his powerful voice deserves to heard by every politician.

"One death is a tragedy. A thousand deaths, a mere statistic."

The government play on numbers. They downplay the human cost of this pandemic, and it's important that history recalls this era not in questionable testing numbers and death tolls, but in the policies that have destroyed lives.

In the week that it was revealed that more Filipino healthcare workers have died of coronavirus in UK than in Phillippines, we asked the government to make public their communications with us.

It was revealed that Matt Hancock himself has refused this request.

We don't know for certain, but in keeping with everything that's happened so far from PPE failures to despicable lies about care homes, we suspect that they have something to hide.
